The Online Abortion Resource Squad (OARS) runs the abortion subreddit. Our peer-based online counseling model helps ensure that in the enormous ocean of the internet, everyone has the information, support, and resources they need to access safe abortion care no matter where they live.
People turn to Reddit when they have trouble locating resources, find themselves lost in a maze of (mis)information, or don’t know whom to trust. Our trained volunteers provide expert navigation and support services to the 200,000 individuals who visit r/abortion every month.
This public forum is a critical resource for the people most impacted by restrictive laws and barriers to access. To date, we’ve helped people from all 50 states, DC, and (at least) 154 countries access safe abortion care.
You can find us on r/abortion — anytime, day or night.
"This has been such a blessing especially for us living in countries where abortion is illegal. We can't get the right help elsewhere."
"I could hardly find any online information that wasn't extremely biased or a Christian service in disguise... Luckily I found this sub and really only faced support and reassurance."
"Without this subreddit I don't know how I could've handled that situation. In the midst of that happening, I was a complete wreck, but looking back it was taken care of really well. I'm glad I discovered Reddit in time."
"r/abortion is the best place to get answers. They have the most up-to-date information and a moderation team dedicated to providing accurate answers. Access is changing every day and it's hard to keep up."
“Reading this thread in the days leading up to my procedure honestly saved me. I felt like I was an expert on the process before I even stepped into the clinic.”
